“The spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound; To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn;”—Isaiah 61:1-2
“And Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost returned from Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, Being forty days tempted of the devil. And in those days he did eat nothing: and when they were ended, he afterward hungered. And the devil said unto him, If thou be the Son of God, command this stone that it be made bread. And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God. And the devil, taking him up into an high mountain, shewed unto him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. And the devil said unto him, All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it. If thou therefore wilt worship me, all shall be thine.”—Luke 4:1-7
Today we gather to reflect on the sacred responsibility we have been given. The anointing of the Lord is a divine gift, a mark of His favor and purpose in our lives. But with this gift comes a solemn duty: we must guard the anointing.
To guard the anointing, we must first recognize its value. It is not something to be taken lightly or for granted. The anointing empowers us to fulfill God’s purpose, to minister to others, and to live a life that glorifies Him. Therefore, we must be vigilant against anything that seeks to diminish or corrupt this precious gift.
As we guard the anointing, we become vessels through which God’s power and love can flow freely. We are able to impact lives, bring healing, and advance His kingdom. Let us commit today to cherish and protect the anointing, knowing that it is a sacred trust given to us by our Heavenly Father.
